Welcome back from Nature's Classroom! I hope you had a wonderful time! This week I want each of you to write 3-4 sentences about something you learned while we were there. Please include some details about what activity you were doing and who else was involved. As always, use good mechanics in your comment. Happy Writing!

I had a great time at Natures Classroom! I learned how to tie a bunch of different knots.I also learned how to get over the fear of small spaces, when I was in Split Rock. Also I learned, you need to be prepared for any kind of weather! I wish our fifth grade could of stayed there longer!
ReplyDeleteAt Nature's Classroom I learned that you can take logs, a knot or hitch and triangles you can make a structure and sit on it. I also learned what ORT, organic recycleble trash, is. I learned what a rock shelter is, a rock shelter is like a cave but a bit smaller and is formed when two or more rocks fall on each other. I learned that it was so much fun and I want to go again! We should of longer!
ReplyDeleteI personally loved Natures Classroom.I learned a few of the owl's hunting techniques,and how the owl uses them.Such as, owls ruffle their feathers so that they can sneak up on their prey without being heard. I also learned what an owl pellet was [I wish i didn't]. And one last thing I also learned about many types of bugs.We should have gone for the entire week!
ReplyDeleteI learned many things at Nature's Classroom such as what ORT (organic recyclable trash) is and that drawing with your feet (in Ultimate Challenge) is HARD!!!! I also enjoyed Survival in the Woods, and Tower power where I learned how to make a stable structure (with gumdrops and toothpicks). I had a lot of fun
ReplyDeleteI really loved natures Classroom. I learned what a water shed is. All it really is is the water cycle, but more detailed and specific. I learned how to play "predator and prey". It's like hide and seek but more intense! I also learned that the water shed is. It is kinda like all the water cycles nooks and crannies. I really wish we could have stayed longer!I love Natures Classroom!
ReplyDeleteI really liked Nature's Classroom! I learned many new things. For example, that oats and honey are good for your face. Also, I learned the history of soap and candles. The guide showed us ho to make them and we got to make them ourselves. I hope I have this much fun at Camp Cosby!
ReplyDeleteI had a lot of fun at Nature's Classroom! I learned how to take care of someone who is hurt in the forest. The class I learned it from was Dr. in the Woods. I hoped everyone enjoyed it as much as I did!
ReplyDeleteI loved Natures Classroom! It was really fun and very exciting! I learned a lot of things about the Under Ground Railroad. It was really hard for the slaves to go from place to place. I also like the classes. I never knew what was going to happen! my favorite class was Egg Drop!

ReplyDeleteI loved Natures Classroom. I learned that the Underground Railroad was harder than I thought it was. I also learned that drag slows down objects going fast. My favorite class was Alpha-Beta. I had a great time!
ReplyDeleteNatures was so cool! It was so much fun. I learned that when slaves were running to get to freedom it was hard to get out of the way.

Nature's Classroom was a blast! I had so much fun! I learned what O.R.T was. Organic Recyclable Trash. I learned this during meal time. It was fun to watch the competition of every field group race to finish their O.R.T. I wish we could have spent more time at Nature's Classroom. Maybe we could have had NO O.R.T.!
ReplyDeleteI learned at Back Country baking the difference between an oven and a stove. A stove gives heat from just the bottom. But an oven gives of heat from the top and the bottom. and it cooks both top and bottom of the food at the same rate. The people that were at it were hayes, mickey,creig,me,taylor,trinity,ella polley, annable p.,lauren,. and the leader was patrick

DeleteNature's classroom was fun a times. The hiking was fun. I learned about ORT. My field group went through split rock and it was dark and cool. It would be fun to go again. And I was sad to leave.
ReplyDeleteNatures classroom was okay. I really didn't like it because I got sick, But, one thing ( <---1D song) that learned is patience. Because they simply wouldn't let us eat food unless we answered a near impossible question. That is all i have to say.

ReplyDeleteI loved Natures Classroom! I learned about ORT, the water shed, and that bubbles had glycerin in them. I love the ORT songs and I still have them both stuck in my head! The food was GREAT and I loved the cake! I wish we could have stayed longer.
ReplyDeleteI thought Natures Classroom was great! I learned what it is like to have disabilities like lack of fingers. The underground railroad really showed you what it was like to be a run away slave. I learned about soap and how to make it and I thought being a waytron was cool. I also really enjoyed AlphaBeta and the cabins were awesome. P.S. (GO YAKS!)
ReplyDeleteI learned alot at natures classroom!In hoot and hurl Lydia and I disected owl pellets and it wad really fun!We learned that owls have exeptional hearing and sight and when they fly they don't make a sound.My camp leader was awesome and I thought that she really explained alot very well.Also I enjoyed my cabin and all the other classes to.
ReplyDeleteI loved Natures classroom! My favorite part about it was split rock, it was hard but I got through. My favorite person there was Mr.Jess he was my field group leader and he always made us laugh. It was sad to leave I hope next years fith graders will like it to.
ReplyDeleteI learned a lot at natures classroom!In the bug activity, I learned that emperor scorpions likes to eat other scorpions. I also learned that to kill a wasp you have to stab the abdomen part witch also is where the stinger is. I also learned in the underground railroad that Harriet Tubman carried a pistol with her.
ReplyDeleteI thought Natures Classroom was amazing! I learned that soap has glycerin in it. I also learned that slaves had to run through big forests and rivers. I learned that you never stand too close to a heater otherwise your poncho starts burning. I also learned that the beavers are amazing!
ReplyDeleteI thought Natures Classroom was great! I learned what it would be to be a real slave and go through forests and rivers. One of the classes I took was Egg Drop,you had to make a contraption to protect the egg that you put in it,then you drop the egg with the contraption and drop it from a high place and see if the egg wouldn't crack. I also learned that the Wolves are awesome!
ReplyDeleteNature's Classroom was awesome! My group was the Muskrats. I learned how tough it was to be traveling through the Underground Railroad. I also learned how soap was made. I would recommend this for other schools!
ReplyDeleteI learned about how slaves were treated and what they had to go throw on the Underground Railroad. I did it with my field group, the muskrats. I had a great time while doing the Underground Railroad, and everything else I did at Nature's Classroom.
ReplyDeleteNatures Classroom was very fun! I learned how to make a candle, and soap .Another thing I learned was,how hard it was to travel on the Underground Railroad, and what slaves were treated like. I did this with my group the Muskrats.
ReplyDeleteNatures Classroom was fun. At the Underground Railroad we learned ho wto act when a bounty hunter cam eup an asked us what we were doing. We learned that slaves were money to people who sold them. We also learned about the trading triangle and ho wthe slaves were treated on the boat. I loved Natures Classroom alot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAt Nature's Classroom, I took the class called Hoot n Hurl. Some other people who took this class with me were Hannah, Tad, Zev, Sydney, Alex, Bella, and Annabel. I learned about some of the owl's super stealthy hunting technics,such as it's ruffled wings, extra talon, and superb night vision. I also got to disect owl pellets, and my group found two animal skulls! All in all, Nature's Classroom was a great experience and I would love to go again.
ReplyDeleteAt Natures Classroom I learned in my candle making class, (witch you were in Ms. Holladay), that the children in the olden days made the candles. The candles were used for light, but not smell. They used cow fat to make the candles. And as you can imagine it didn't smell pleasant. Later on the start to use different animal fat that smell a little better and that burned longer. Natures Classroom was a fun experience, I wished we stayed longer!
ReplyDeleteNature's Classroom was a happy and memorable experience for me. I learned all about owls in the hoot and hurl class with my friends from different groups. I explored the eating habits of owls by dissecting an actual owl pellet. I found many rodent bones including a tiny skull.
ReplyDeleteNature's Classroom was not very fun for me. Nothing was really interesting, and we couldn't even be ORT-less for one meal. But, I did enjoy one of my classes and I even learned a bit. In Candles, I learned that the kids made the candles and that they had to make enough candles for the entire year. That wound up to be 730 candles per year!!! I can now understand why all the sixth-graders complained about Nature's Classroom.
ReplyDeleteI a great time at Natures Classroom! I learned about trees, the underground railroad, the wild. I also had one of the best cabins ever! I love the ORT-less thing we got so close to getting it.But overall I had the best time.
ReplyDeleteNatures Classroom was probably my favorite thing we did all year in school... I got to be with my friends, and didn't have any problems with them!(Not that I would...) I already knew about teamwork, but at Natures Classroom, you strengthened your ability of teamwork. You got to see some things you don't see here in Tennessee. The Underground Railroad taught me that whenever I'm out in nature, I need to prepare for any kind of weather, and have a flashlight. I LOVED Natures Classroom!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhile at Natures Classroom I learned how to make soap. And in the days where women did most of the work, they made soap from cow fat and other gross ingredients. So it did not smell very pleasant. But it was hard work back then and now we use herb, and other god smelling ingredients. I had a great time there and I wish we could go back.
ReplyDeleteAt Natures Classroom I leaarned how what slaves did in the Underground Railroad. If there was a group of people you would have a leader who told a story why you were out at night while the rest of the group hid. I had a great time at Natures Classroom.

ReplyDeleteAt Nature's classroom it was great! I liked the part were we built a tower out of gumballs and toothpicks. I also liked the Underground Railroad were we actually got to be in a slaves shoes when slavery was allowed. All in all it was a great time.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love nature's classroom! I learned many many thing like the Orcad mantis. It lives in jungles, forests and in fields. I also loved learning about slaves. I learned to make soap, and make nature moisturerizer. I absolutely love nature's classroom!
ReplyDeleteNature's classroom was awesome!!! I built a dome out of sticks and logs. I also liked the Underground Railroad. It was like we were slaves. Nature's classroom is awesome.
ReplyDeleteI really liked Natures Classroom. My field group leader, Patrick, showed my group how to identify a white pine. We also went through split rock. It was really fun. I hope that I have as much fun at Camp Cosby as I did there!
ReplyDeleteI LOVED Natures Classroom so much! I was is the Smartpaper Class. What I really learned was that you can make paper, out of paper! What we did was we got this huge bucket of paper, tore them all up in little peices. Then we blended them together, we mixed it with water. We then put it in this little screen and got all the water out of it. Then we made paper!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed Nature's Classroom very much. I learned something new in the class I Fly Away. In that class I learned about the four major forces effecting airplanes. They are lift, drag, gravity and thrust. We used what we learned by building and testing... Paper airplanes!!!! That is what I learned at Nature's Classroom.
ReplyDeleteI loved Natures Classroom more than anything in the whole world!! My favorite activity was bubbles. We learned lots about bubbles!! Like the gravity does not effect the way the bubbles work so the gravity doesn't pull the bubbles down.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite field group activity was going on hikes and going through the split rock and playing predator VS. prey!! Also our field group was the first ever group to go on a trail that they just made a few weeks ago and they have not made a name for it wet.
My favorite activity was the underground railroad. The people Involed was everyone. I learned how hard it was being a slave in the 1900s. Every part of natures classroom was great and fun. I LOVED NATURES CLASSROOM! WAR EAGLE!

DeleteMy favorite activity was the Underground Railroad. Which for me involved chaperon's, Trinity, Sydney, Juliana, Me of course, Sager, Tucker, Carter K, Hayes, and Jackson Neese. And it's not my favorite just because I was map guy! I learned that slaves had to be VERY convincing and they had to repeat the same story again and NEVER SAY WE when talking to a bounty hunter which I found out you talk to a lot more than I thought. IT was a little too Educational but still was cool. NATURES CLASSROOM ROCKS FOOD AND FUN WISE! ROOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLL TIDEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI loved and learned a lot in natures classroom, but I learned that triangles are stronger than boxes. Water flows to one spot and not a thousand or more places around the world it might go to a pool of water or the ocean. I learned that some lichen is edible but some is not like crumbled ruffles. I was in the cabin arrowhead and the muskrats there was so many friends I can't name them all.
ReplyDeleteI had a great time in Natures Classroom I learned that egg can be dropped with out it breaking you do not put a lot of cushion around it. I was in cabin Chickasaw I had a lot of friends in there we did hair we talked and we had a pillow fight.
